Vinchin's solutions for virtual machines and clouds are agentless, while solutions for physical machines are agent-based. This means that we generally do not need to deploy a proxy.
Vinchin proxy is an optional component to Vinchin backup infrastructure for backing up VMware virtual machines.If you plan to backup your VMware virtual platform through LAN, and your Vinchin server is installed outside the ESXi cluster, you can choose to install a Vinchin proxy VM on the ESXi cluster for the implementation of HotAdd transmission.

Hi Victor, generally, Vinchin's infrastructure includes Sever, Node, and Proxy. I think the deployment of the server and nodes is usually enough for most scenarios without an extra proxy， which is used for some particular environments. Your basic understanding of connections among the Vinchin server, nodes, storage, and virtualizations is correct. However, the final diagram still needs to be designed after understanding the problem and requirements. May I know if there is a business regarding this diagram? Maybe we can discuss more. 🙂
