Vinchin is one of the data protection software solutions that currently supports the widest range of virtual machines and also supports agentless migration between virtualization platforms. You can start by reading this guide to learn how to backup your VM.
Supported Platforms:
Vinchin currently supports agentless VM backup for VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Proxmox, oVirt, OLVM, RHV, Citrix Hypervisor (XenServer), XCP-ng, ZStack, OpenStack, Sangfor HCI, H3C CAS/UIS, Huawei FusionCompute, etc.
Installation & Configuration
You can get the installation package on the download page and then install it on a virtual machine or physical machine.
After that, upload the license that we send to you in the email.
Add backup storage before creating a backup job.
Host Adding:
For VMware vSphere, simply follow the steps in the Help Center to add hosts using their credentials directly; for other virtualization platforms, please install the require plugins, which can be downloaded where you add the host or in the HelpCenter.
Backup VM:
After adding the host, you can create a backup task in 4 steps.
- Select the VMs you want to backup.
- Choose backup storage. Vinchin supports backing up virtual machines to various types of storage including local partition or disk, logical volume, local directory, Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (FC SAN) storage, iSCSI storage, NFS storage, andĀ CIFS storage, public cloud storage, tape library, etc.
- Set the backup policy. You can add backup strategies like schedule, incremental backup, data compression, etc.
- Submit the task.
Restore VM:
When you need to restore a VM, just select the restore point in the system and create a restore job in 4 steps.
- Select the restore point
- Select the target host (which can be any host in the system)
- Select strategies or just skip it
- Submit the job
Except for full VM restore, you can also use it to perform granular restore to quickly extract file from it or instant restore to quickly reboot a failed VM.
