To help you successfully complete the installation of Vinchin, we have organized the following key information to ensure you can install and use Vinchin Backup & Recovery smoothly.
Installation Package Acquisition
The installation package of Vinchin Backup & Recovery is an ISO file based on Rocky Linux. You can submit an application on our download page, and then you will receive an email with the download link. It can be installed on an empty physical machine or virtual machine. After installation, you can access the system's web UI via a browser to easily use and manage the backup system.
Installation Environment
To maximize the performance of Vinchin Backup & Recovery, we recommend installing it on a physical machine. Below are the recommended system specifications:
If you would like to install it on a physical machine, the recommended configurations are:
CPU: 2Quad-core CPUs or faster
RAM: 16GB or more
Network: 21Gbps ETH or faster
OS Disk: 2*120GB SSD
OS Disk RAID Level: RAID 1
Data Disk: 1.5 times (or more) capacity of the production data size, if other storage media will be used as backup storage, then backup disk is not required.
Data Disk RAID Level: RAID 5
Fibre Channel HBA (optional): 8Gb Fibre Channel or faster
If you would like to install it on a virtual machine, the recommended configurations are:
CPU: 8*vCPUs or more
RAM: 16GB or more
Guest OS: Rocky Linux
Virtual Disk: 100GB or more (for OS installation only)
Backup Storage: 1.5 times (or more) capacity of the production data size.

License Upload and Storage Adding
After installation, you will need to upload your license. The free version and trial version licenses are typically sent to you via email after you submit the application. If you need to upgrade your license or adapt it to your environment, please contact our sales team.

Next, you need to add backup storage. Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports various types of backup storage, including local partition or disk, logical volume, local directory, Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (FC SAN) storage, iSCSI storage, NFS storage, andĀ CIFS storage, public cloud storage, tape library, etc. After that, you can add workloads and create backup jobs.
