Vinchin Backup & Recovery allows customers to take backups of entire Linux server’s operating system or specific volume(s) of the physical server.
Installation & Configuration
You can get the installation package on the download page and then install it on a virtual machine or physical machine.
After that, upload the license that we send to you in the email.
Add backup storage before creating a backup job.
Server Adding
Before creating a server backup job, make sure you had installed the physical backup agents on the target Linux servers.
With the agents installed on the physical servers and registered to Vinchin backup server, you can perform file backup, application (database & Exchange) backup, volume-level backup and also volume-level CDP backup or the physical servers.
Server Backup:
There are 4 steps to create a server backup job:
- Select the host(s) you need to back up.
- Specify a backup storage to save your backup data.
- Confugure backup strategy. You can setup the backup time schedule, throttling policy, data storage policy, retention policy and some other advanced options.
- Submit the task.
Server Restore:
When you want to only restore the data partition other than system partition, just follow the 4 steps:
- Select the restore point
- Select the restore destination
- Configure strategies or just skip it
- Submit the job
In addition to partition-level restore, you can also perform bare-metal restore and server instant restore of their physical servers using the backups.
