Business Challenge

Guangdong Jinling Sugar Group Co., Ltd. is a private group enterprise mainly engaged in the sugar industry. The core business of the company is primarily involved in three main sectors: sugar, agricultural product circulation, and technology parks. The products are sold across the country and are exported overseas.  

Benchmarked leading international sugar trade organizations and modern refined sugar manufacturing enterprises, Jinling Group plans to build an intelligent refined sugar factory with world-class leading standards. The group is actively researching and producing high-end sugars such as refined sugar, pharmaceutical sugars, and crystalline fructose. As the group continues to promote the digital transformation of the enterprise, the number of business systems built to meet production needs has been increasing, resulting in an explosion of business data and growing pressure on data security. To ensure the continuity of the group's business, the management department has started focusing on disaster recovery construction. After communication and research, the following issues and demands were identified in Jinling Sugar Industry:

The group operates multiple virtualization platforms, including VMware, with a large number of virtual machines, making centralized management challenging. To improve efficiency, there is a need to migrate all business systems to a private cloud platform. Given the vast amount of business data, a high-performance, highly reliable backup solution is required to ensure data protection. Moreover, the group’s core systems, such as the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and the production DCS control system, are tightly integrated with the production line. Any failure could result in incalculable losses, making the stable operation of these systems critical.

Vinchin Solution

In response to the above demands, the Vinchin solution team communicated in detail with Jinling Sugar Industry and developed a disaster recovery plan that meets the actual needs of the group, ensuring the continuity of research, production, and processing operations:  

First, Vinchin Backup & Recovery was deployed in the user environment, using cross-platform migration technology to seamlessly migrate business virtual machines running on the VMware virtualization platform to another virtualization platform, reducing management costs by several times. Second, agentless backup was adopted for unified and centralized backup of business virtual machines, eliminating the need for system account information and ensuring compliance with security standards, while simplifying deployment and maintenance. Third, real-time backup was applied to core business systems such as the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and the production DCS control system. By monitoring IO at the second level, zero data loss was ensured, and point-in-time recovery was possible in case of failure. Last, instant recovery technology for virtual machines was used, allowing for minute-level recovery of failed business systems, ensuring fast recovery in the event of a disaster and continuous protection of critical production operations.

Result

Vinchin’s disaster recovery solution helped Guangdong Jinling Sugar Group streamline operations and improve data security. By enabling seamless cross-platform migration, it reduced management costs and simplified virtual machine backup with an agentless approach. Real-time backups ensured zero data loss for critical systems like LIMS and DCS control, while instant recovery minimized downtime. Overall, Vinchin enhanced data protection, disaster recovery, and operational continuity for the group’s business systems.
