The Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) was established in January 2011 as a State-owned company under the Ministry of Finance of Kenya. It is responsible for establishing, implementing and managing the national electronic single window system (KenyaTradeNet system) to streamline cross-border trade. KenyaTradeNet system is an online platform that provides a single point of entry for all parties in international trade and transport logistics to electronically submit, process and authorize documents and to pay fees, customs duties and taxes on imported and exported goods.

KenTrade's business systems are distributed to run on two different virtualization platforms, VMware and OLVM, resulting in increasing complexity of multi-platform management. With the expansion of international trade, the amount of data kept increasing and the management became difficult at a later stage. As a result, KenTrade needed to perform a V2V migration to migrate the data on the VMware platform to the OLVM platform.
