How to add NFS share as a storage resource?

question Answer

Before adding an NFS share to Vinchin as a storage resource, here are some prerequisites:

  • The NFS storage server must be accessible from Vinchin server.

  • The folder which you wish to use must exist on the NFS share.

  • Vinchin server must be authorized host of the NFS share, and must have read and write permissions.

To add a NFS share, follow the steps below:

  1. On Resources -> Storage screen, click on Add button.

  2. In Storage Type dropdown list, select NFS.

  3. In Node IP/Domain dropdown list, select the target node which you wish the storage to be added.

  4. In Shared Folder field, type in the full path of the NFS share, the format should be: server:/share.

  5. The config the mount params is optional, it can be used to specify some additional parameters of mounting the NFS share if need.

  6. In Mount Params field, type in the parameters for mounting the NFS share if needed. For example, you can specify the NFS protocol version by nfsvers=2.0.

  7. Choose the Storage Objective from Backup, Backup Copy and Backup Archive. This will determine for which purpose the storage will be used.

  8. Optionally configure the storage Name and Storage Alert.

  9. Click on OK button to add the NFS share as a storage resource.

If this NFS share was once used by Vinchin backup server and there's backup data inside, Vinchin backup server will automatically detect the backups and provide you options to import the existing backups or to proceed without import.
